Finally I have dragged ze muse, kicking and screaming into touch. This is all [info]icarusancalion 's fault. She mentioned that she had translated a scene from her SGA fic "Out of Bounds" into Hindi as part of her studies. So I suggested that it be set to music with the boys in silk and bracelets. She replied "Ooh, Bollywood John!" and this happened.
The art bunneh flopped it's way merrily through what passes as my mind and wouldn't go away!

Bollywood John

That said the truly and utterly abysmal English summer has made me depressed. We've had only 7 decently sunny days since June and today it just rained allll day. So I've dug out my BrightLight and am working in front of it because otherwise everything is so bleurgh that I just can't get anything done.
Then I went for a nice family weekend in Manchester to celebrate my sister-in-law's 50th birthday. We had a nice time but I came back to the news that TPTB had cancelled Atlantis.
Because of course it makes sense to cancel a programme which is currently #1 of the ten most downloaded programmes on the web. After an episode like "The Shrine", which was not only a halfway decent sci-fi story but really showcased David Hewlett's acting abilities. Not to mention the fan(girl)service (All that "John, JOHN!" stuff) I'm willing to bet the first McShep slashfic centered around *that* hit the web a whole ten minutes after the ep aired.
Is it any wonder I'm depressed?
Worse, the article on Gateworld about "Stargate Universe" described it as having a "fresher" cast and "storytelling suited to 2008, not the 1990's"
-this would be the very same concept that they mocked so effectively in SG-1's "200", where the cast were replaced with street-speaking teenagers with *attitude*.
I happen to like a mature, capable cast telling interesting and original stories. If the third incarnation of "Stargate" is going to be geared for the MTV generation I shall be taking myself and my oh-so-desirable ABC1 demographic/ disposable income elsewhere.
It's not like we ever watched the adverts anyway! It's what the mute button is for, right?
*sighs*

Radio 4 and Physics Rocks!

Fingers crossed for the scientists at CERN tomorrow. May their beams orbit and their detectors all work ... and who knows they may even find the Higgs boson! Dark matter anyone?
Huge plaudits to BBC Radio4 who are doing a day of programmes to mark the occasion, including one suggesting that "Physics is the new rock"! Cor.
And a specially commissioned radio ep of "Torchwood" set in the Swiss facility. Hmm. Wonder how they'll manage all that same-sex snogging with just sound effects. *sniggers*

EDIT: (Weds a.m.) Mega minus points to GMTV who apparently carried a "countdown to the end of the World" clock running in the corner of the screen and a big red "Panic" button in front of the presenters this morning.
